An organization (or organisation — see spelling differences) is a social arrangement which pursues collective goals, controls its own performance, and has a boundary separating it from its environment. The word itself is derived from the Greek word organon, itself derived from the better-known word ergon.

In the social sciences, organizations are the object of analysis for a number of disciplines, such as sociology, economics, political science, psychology, management, and organizational communication. In more specific contexts, particularly for sociologists, the term "institution" may be preferred. The broader analysis of organizations is commonly referred to as organizational studies, organizational behavior or organization analysis. A number of different theories and perspectives exist, some of which are compatible,

  • Organization – process-related: an entity is being (re-)organized (organization as task or action).
  • Organization – functional: organization as a function of how entities like businesses or state authorities are used (organization as a permanent structure).
  • Organization – institutional: an entity is an organization (organization as an actual purposeful structure within a social context)

A. Well a good way of taking notes is what my 7th grade teacher taught me. Cornwall notes. You draw a line along the blue line of the piece of notebook papers and every 6 lines you draw a line horizontally. On the left side you put a topic and the right side you put main points. This helped me alot during tests. Also be sure to take 90% of what the teacher is saying as notes and 10% of listening. Keep your notes organized by labeling them and use labels. Highlight only the important topics like birth-dates and what people did or locations. Stay organized by keeping a planner of test dates and important dates. Use folders of different subjects.

What are some ways you keep your home organized?
Q. Yes, I'm a neat freak. I have everything organized the way I like it and God forbid it ever get crazy--just kidding but I do like everything to be neat. I was just wondering how other parents organize their home in order to keep their sanity--maybe I'll get a few more ideas? Okay--I'm not asking for organization websites. I'm asking for actual experience.

A. I like those shoe boxes/Cubbies! My wife and I have 5 kids so there are 7 of us! We each have at least 3 pairs of shoes... the girls have many more... when we were just setting them by the door it was crazy! For the mail I like a box that stands up with different openings to put the newly acquired mail and the bills and then the outgoing mail. It works nice. Labeling things works REALLY well, especially when the kids are learning to read. Trust me, husbands DON'T know where things are supposed to go LOL! With labels they really will try and put things in the right place and it cuts down on arguments as to who lost what LOL! I found that going to Microsoft Word, typing up some fancy names for stuff and labeling worked good. SHELVES,… [cont.]

Q. I attend University of Illinois and my first year went horrible. It was a complete disaster. Tips on time management, note taking, studying habits, and keeping my room in my apartment organized would all be helpful.

A. Studying/academics: -Office hours: go to them! Your professor will see that you care about the class and the subject and that can be the difference between a B+ and an A-. The difference between an F and a D. -Take notes!: Don't write down every word. Listen attentively and write down anything that the professor writes on the board or says with emphasis. If something sounds important, write it down. If you take notes on a laptop, be strict with yourself and try not to let the temptation to log onto Facebook get to you. Always, always, always date your notes, and indicate whether they are reading notes or lecture notes. I would advise taking both reading notes and lecture notes. Obviously, a lot of professors see what they say in class as… [cont.]
