Ethical and Legal Issues in Electronic Commerce?
Q. Could you highlight the various legal, moral and ethical issues that affect the ability and efficiency of a company to conduct electronic commerce.

A. Electronic commerce could mean that "computers" are responsible for inventory management, placing orders and issuing receipts, but computers cannot be sued for breach of contract. Is it the programmers, system analysts, policy people, or corporate owners who are responsible? To assure security, e-commerce requires strong authentication, based upon credentials that are difficult to forge, otherwise anybody could corrupt the system and have goods mis-delivered for theft. How do we decide when authentication is "good enough" for e-commerce to run unsupervised by humans? How do we recognize forged credentials and where do we turn for the ultimated "trusted authority", such as a "notary", that will accurately vouch for only authorized… [cont.]

A. If it is free, the best thing is of course SAVING. However, free means no commitment from them too. You cannot comment about the quality to them. The performance tends to be slow. Likely there is some hidden stuff for providing free website. It doesn't seem to be professional if you are setting up a e-commerce site with their ads. Asked by Mai - Tue Mar 9 00:20:22 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Research newegg.com, one of the most successful online businesses around. It has a very loyal userbase. Why? 1. Low prices 2. Incredibly fast turnaround 3. Customer service 4. Catered to a niche market that had few alternatives. 5. Easy to use website Everything just goes smoothly when ordering from them. For them, it's all about moving lots of inventory, really quickly. Because with so little profit off each sale, they have to always push to ship things out as fast as they can. Win for everyone.

How would you feel if the electronic commerce was taxed?
Q. I need some more ideas for my econ project. Electronic commerce consists of the buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet. There are two fairly good arguments for each side, whether the electronic commerce should be taxed or not. Since the e-commerce is not taxed there is not much discouragement to trade things over the internet if there was a taxed commerce. Thus some may say that because of the Internet tax freedom act information expanded exponentially. Bush said, the US economy is in an economical downturn. By taxing e-commerce, the government will receive more funding in which the government may spend more money for the internet. It is said that for each dollar the government puts in,… [cont.]
Asked by SeriousTyro - Mon Jan 28 10:21:36 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Taxing e- commerce would help the government collect more money in taxes, less from USPS for shipping. People would buy more locally as the cost to shop Internet rises which means local taxes and fuel taxes. Making consumers pay more for the failing government will not help the government or economy. The recession isn't caused by the Internet. The free trade agreement of the 90's is a big contributor. The heath care system is part of the problem. China is part of the problem. Corporate greed such as Wal Mart is part of the problem. Companies in this country have been disappearing for years and the government has done nothing, they line their pockets just like corporate America. Do they think their # 1 consumers won't go broke without jobs?… [cont.]

A. The federal courts and some state courts now are sufficiently confident in electronic commerce systems that they use a variant on that system for filing and service of documents. At the federal level the filing system is known as ECF, and the Public Access section is called PACER, for Public Access to Court Electronic Records.
